About sitescore

Why we built this

Most small-business websites — plumbers, dentists, contractors, med spas — look like they were built in 2014. Because they were. The owners know it. They haven't fixed it because a redesign costs $5K–$15K and takes weeks. Meanwhile, customers judge the business in 3 seconds.

We built sitescore because there was no cheap, fast, honest way for an SMB owner to get a real assessment of their site's quality. The "free SEO audit" tools give 47-page PDFs full of technical jargon that nobody acts on. We wanted something a plumber could read on their phone between jobs and actually understand.

How scoring works

When you submit a URL, we fetch the HTML and send it to Anthropic's Claude — a large language model that can analyze a webpage the way a human would. Claude evaluates your site across four dimensions:

  • Looks Modern: Does your site look current or dated?
  • Contact Prominence: Can a customer reach you in one click?
  • Trust Signals: Reviews, certifications, social proof — are they visible?
  • Mobile Readiness: Does the site work on a phone?

Each dimension is scored 0–25, totaling a 0–100 overall score. The model also generates a plain-English verdict, top issues, and quick wins you can hand to your webmaster.

What we store

We store the URL you submitted, the timestamp of the scan, and the generated report. That's it. We don't store your IP address beyond a temporary rate-limit window. We don't use cookies. We don't scrape any personal information from the sites we scan. Reports are public by design — anyone with the link can view them.
